Saturation

As gas prices rise
it seems that more and more
people are leaving their SUVs home
and taking their smaller cars,
riding public transportation or
car-pooling.

This morning, driving to work,
I observed an interesting phenomenon:
The car pool lane actually traveled
slower than the rest of the freeway.
The car pool lane is bound to reach saturation
as more and more people decide to ride-share.
When people begin to notice they're moving
slower, of course, they'll eventually get out
of the car pool lane and move to the regular lanes.
It will reach a sort of
equilibrium.
